Toy Foundation Give Young Burn Patients a Place to Play

Grady Health Foundation is grateful to The Toy Foundation for its generous $25,000 grant supporting the new pediatric playroom in the Walter L. Ingram Burn Center.

This funding will help furnish the space with therapeutic play resources, including interactive wall toys, sensory equipment, gaming systems and accessible seating, allowing certified child life specialists to provide developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed support to pediatric burn patients.

Serving approximately 1,000 children each year, the playroom will offer young patients ages up to age 18 a safe, welcoming environment to cope with hospitalization, reduce anxiety and experience moments of joy during recovery. The Toy Foundation’s partnership is helping transform a highly clinical setting into a space that promotes comfort, resilience and emotional healing for children and their families.
