Grady in the news: Dr. Elizabeth Benjamin on WABE

On a recent edition of WABE’s “Closer Look with Rose Scott,” Dr. Elizabeth Benjamin, Grady’s Trauma Medical Director, joined other Atlanta medical leaders to share how area hospitals are preparing for FIFA World Cup visitors and upcoming mass gather events.

While Atlanta has experience with major events, like the Super Bowl and College Football Playoffs, the medical leaders said the World Cup is different because it spans 30 days during the hottest part of the year. They said they have prepared and have the staff and resources ready to respond to the nearly 300,000 visitors expected.

Grady’s coordinates our region’s disaster and emergency preparedness response, helping keep the region stable and safe. This expertise helps Atlanta attract and support major events and enabling the positive economic impact they bring. Our Marcus Trauma Center is also Atlanta’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, handling the most complicated cases throughout the state.
