GDP Employees’ Foundation helps care for young burn survivors

Grady Health Foundation is grateful to the GPD Employees’ Foundation for its generous $4,000 grants supporting pediatric burn survivors through Grady’s Child Life Program.

This funding helps give children recovering from burn injuries the opportunity to participate in the adaptive sports program at the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, Colorado. Through activities like biking, hiking, skiing and other adaptive outdoor sports, the program allows young patients to rebuild physical strength, gain confidence and connect with peers who share similar experiences.

Grady patient Kenzi Lucky was able to take part in the program, her first time camping, and said it was important to her to meet other kids who were also recovering from burns. “I had an amazing time. I can’t wait to do it again.”

By supporting camp tuition, travel assistance and staff accompaniment, the GPD Employees’ Foundation is helping extend Grady’s continuum of care beyond the hospital and empowering pediatric patients to continue their healing journey in a supportive, confidence-building environment.
