The 2026 White Coat Grady Gala raised more than $2 million, a record-breaking total supporting Grady Health System. More than 650 business, civic, medical and philanthropic leaders gathered on Saturday, October 24, and honored CEO John Haupert, who is retiring at the end of the year after 15 years of leadership.
Funds raised at the 16th annual Gala support Grady’s ongoing efforts to expand access to care, develop new treatments, and support our community’s economy and quality of life.
“This year’s record-breaking fundraising illustrates how vitally important Grady is to Atlanta,” said Shan Cooper, chair, Grady Health Foundation Board of Directors. “While Grady is asked to do more with less, our community continues to step up to ensure we can meet every challenge while saving lives, advancing medical care and making our community stronger.”
The event featured compelling stories from Grady caregivers, patients and community leaders, who shared the impact Grady has made on their lives, how Haupert’s leadership strengthened the health system, and how he has created a solid foundation for continued growth.
“John Haupert is leaving Grady not just better than how he found it but poised to continue setting the global standards for medical care,” said Joselyn Baker, president, Grady Health Foundation. “His leadership allowed Grady’s footprint to extend far beyond our downtown campus and be where people need us, giving everyone the opportunity to live their best life.”
Grady President and COO Anthony Saul, who will succeed Haupert as CEO in 2027, thanked all who have invested in Grady’s success.
“Thank you for believing that Grady matters,” Saul said. “With your support and partnership, we will continue to meet the growing needs of the community we serve by expanding our footprint. We will continue to save the lives that no other health system in our community can. And we will always be at the ready – no matter what comes our way.”
