Welcome to Grady, Dr. Bellal Joseph

We are happy to welcome Grady new Surgeon-in-Chief, Dr. Bellal Joseph.

Dr. Joseph joins us from the University of Arizona, where he spent 15 years advancing surgical care, research and education at a national and international level.

In his new role at Grady, Dr. Joseph will oversee the expansion of surgical services, accelerate research growth, and build Grady’s military and international partnerships. His leadership will help strengthen Grady’s role as a trusted trauma center, burn center and public health system for the communities we serve.

Dr. Joseph brings an exceptional record of leadership and innovation. At the University of Arizona, he served as the Martin Gluck Endowed Professor of Surgery, professor of neurosurgery, chief of trauma and general surgery, critical care and burns & emergency surgery, and executive vice chair of the Department of Surgery. During his tenure, he helped transform surgical care across southern Arizona, establishing the region’s first trauma-verified center at South Campus, supporting the development of the Arizona Burn Center, and helping shape the region’s Level 1 trauma center into what it is today.
