Grady Cardiology Recognized for research excellence
Congratulations to the Grady Heart and Vascular team for earning global recognition for advancing cardiovascular research and leading the world in clinical trial enrollment while championing patient-centered care.
At the American Heart Association’s Atlanta Heart Ball, Dr. Modele Ogunniyi was honored for her work advancing equitable participation in clinical trials. Her leadership is shaping a research culture at Grady that is grounded in excellence and inclusivity.
Grady was also recognized as the top-enrolling cardiovascular clinical trial site in the world, most recently earning Gold Site recognition and the designation of Overall Top Enrolling Site in the DAPA ACT HF clinical trial. Out of 210 sites worldwide, Grady enrolled 71 participants, the highest total, and led in diverse representation, contributing 16% of the trials Black or African American participants.
Dr. Ogunniyi and her team worked to remove barriers to participation by offering transportation support, coordinating study visits with existing appointments and minimizing disruptions to patients’ daily lives. Collaboration across teams, including Grady’s Heart Failure Advanced Practice Practioners (APPs) and clinic staff, helped build trust and streamline the experience, resulting in an extraordinary 99% retention space.
The team also received the 2025 American Heart Association/Heart Failure Collaboratory Site-based Research Award for advancing cardiovascular science. All of which shows Grady’s exceptional level of care, ensuring every patient can live their best life.
