Grady Air takes to the sky

Grady has taken emergency care to the sky with the launch of our new state-of-the-art medical helicopter, Grady Air.

The aircraft, developed in partnership with Air Methods, can provide intensive care unit-level treatments to patients while on the move, allowing quicker access to trauma care while the patient is being rushed to the hospital. Grady Air is staffed by Grady medical personnel, including nurses, paramedics and critical care specialists, and Air Methods pilots. It has enough equipment to accommodate multiple caregivers at once and is available 24/7 across metro Atlanta and the region.

“Being able to arrive by air and then get the patient to the hospital so much faster, is going to be a game changer,” said Bob Meyers, a flight paramedic for Grady Air.

Grady Air is already operational and saving lives, having recently taken a pregnant woman involved in an auto accident to Grady Memorial Hospital in less than 15 minutes, a journey that would have taken close to an hour by ground.

With Grady Air now in service, we are poised to enhance our emergency medical capabilities, providing faster and more efficient care to patients in critical situations
