Focus Remains on COVID-19 Response


Based on the current projections for COVID-19 in the state of Georgia, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 White Coat Grady Gala scheduled for June 6. At this time, our organizational focus must remain solely on the care and safety of our patients, employees, and community.

We are grateful to those sponsors who have agreed to fulfill their gala commitments despite the cancellation to help support Grady’s response to this unprecedented pandemic. Any and every donation strengthens Grady’s efforts to provide high-quality, compassionate care as safely as possible.

We are also thankful for our event co-chairs, Ada Lee and Pete Correll, and Lovette and Michael Russell, as well as this year’s honorary chairs and host committee members. We are honored that you chose to champion Grady and endorse it as one of Atlanta’s most vital resources.



The Gala is our single largest fundraiser each year and provides significant annual support for Grady. We had projected to raise $1.3 million in 2020, and that funding is still critically needed as the health system faces an estimated $40 million in unbudgeted expenses including personal protective equipment, testing, and employee support in the fight against COVID-19. While Grady and other hospitals will receive some financial assistance from the federal government, philanthropic support remains critical as we work to meet the needs of our community, both with regard to the coronavirus pandemic and to the care we provide in trauma, stroke, burn and other acute areas.
