Mark Owens was named Development Officer for the Grady Health Foundation in September 2023. In this role, he has the honor of connecting with Grady’s most impactful individual donors and stewarding their support.

Before joining Grady, Mark spent the previous 8 years with the American Heart Association serving the Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL markets in multiple managerial/senior director roles including leading the Greater Atlanta Heart Walk, one of the top fundraising campaigns in the nation. In these roles, Mark worked with executives, corporate sponsors and community leaders to raise vital funds in the fight against heart disease and stroke. During his tenure with the American Heart Association, Mark was recognized with multiple awards including National & Regional Director of the Year in 2017.

Mark is a Kansas City native but grew up in Destin, Florida and continued his education at Florida State University where he graduated with a M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communication and B.S. in Marketing. While at FSU, Mark was a Graduate Assistant Coach for Florida State Football working under legendary coach, Bobby Bowden. From the Kansas City Chiefs to Florida State Seminoles and to the Atlanta Braves, the “War Chant” has been consistent throughout Mark’s life.

 When Mark isn’t at Grady, you can find him with his wife and two children in Alpharetta, GA, where they are passionate volunteers. Supporting North Point Church as a Middle School “Transit” Leader guiding a group of 25 middle schoolers is one of his ongoing engagements. He also serves as a coach for 5th & 6th Grade Football and Basketball teams. Additionally, supporting “Smile Train” is an important focus for their family.
